Hi,

Which resolutions can be written in the resolution box? If it is not a supported one it can't be saved...

Is it possible to enter the "resolution" we want? In my case, I would like to be able to put the aspect ratio of each film more than the resolution, for example:

1.78:1 - 16/9
2.35:1 - 16/9
1.33:1 - 4/3
...

I think it's more relevant than the resolution in a DVD collection.

You can only enter a resolution with the following format "width"x"height", f.e. 1024x768
Or you enter one of the aliases:

Hi! Just trying out Griffith again after a long hiatus.

What you are saying about these predefined resolutions is great - if we are talking about video files on one's computer. But I think it's safe to say that a large number of us use Griffith to catalog our physical DVD libraries. How would I, with these predefined resolutions, differentiate between an NTSC DVD movie that is in anamorphic widescreen versus standard-definition 4:3 fullscreen?

I realize that anamorphic widescreen DVDs come in a fair number of different aspect ratios, but I would be happy if I could simply refer to them as "Fullscreen" or "Widescreen" in the Resolution field. Would this be possible? Or am I stuck trying to calculate the exact HxW resolution of each and every DVD I own?

If we define some kind of "virtual" resolution alias it would be possible. For example if I extend the list with
(1, 1): ('4:3 Fullscreen',),
(1, 2): ('Widescreen')

Would it fit your needs? Do you have any other resolution names which should be supported?

Widescreen, especially for DVDs, can be broken up into two subcategories: "Anamorphic Widescreen", for those DVDs that properly fill out a widescreen TV, and just plain "Widescreen" for those DVDs that are pillarboxed and letterboxed for viewing as widescreen on a 4:3 TV but are not enhanced for widescreen TVs. If you break it out like that, then this solution would be perfect.
