I have switched my movie list to Griffith, it was quit some work. I could not help it, Griffith is much much better than my previous system.
Anyway, apart from the other thread, I noticed the following things, that could be improved:

- keyboard shortcuts for common request: get data from imdb, get poster from amazon, pressing enter after entering a title automatically searches on imdb
- Changing the rating automatically switches the "Seen it" trigger (make that an option perhaps, so people can rate without having "seen it")
- Limit the character number for director, year and such things. Some movies did not return the correct pages, everything was stuffed into director, messing up display.
- Default backup folder should be selectable
- The poster viewer has some bugs. Sometimes it shows nothing and there is a poster, sometimes there shows nothing and there is an all black poster. I am not sure, what triggers the behaviour. Sometimes it simply works. Smiley
- The "new" button should not be on the main window. Place it somewhere hidden, one should not need it often and it is kinda scary. Smiley

Thanks for your work on Griffith, you did a great job. Smiley

EDIT:
- the position of the windows should be saved upon quitting the programme.

It will be done in few days.

Please, let us know every time you get such errors. Remember to post plugin's and movie's name.

OK

Tell me name of the movie (and plugin). I will try to reproduce it...

I will try to find the movies I had the problems with.

Another thing I just noticed, movies with a "the" in front are being sorted under "T". It should automatically be removed from the front and placed to the end of the movie name: ", The". The movie should be sorted under the then appropriate letter.

I forgot to ask to for a changeable default save folder (not only for the backup, but for the standard database as well.) I would like to move the griffith database to a different folder.

Thank you for your work on the programme. Smiley

EDIT: More things I'd like to see:
- Reload IMDB data for existing movies. Good, when functionality is added to Griffith

- Batch IMDB reload, maybe with a limit on connections per minute, so Griffith does not dDOS IMDB. Smiley

- For movies such as: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310357 the cast is not shown in Griffith
more examples:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046534
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114704
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0320668

- "Also known as" should get a data field. One should be able to select a "main title" for a movie under which it gets sorted. For japanese movies for example, I'd prefer the english title. Smiley

-"Blood of the Vikings" is one of those movies, that breaks the director input field.

- Some movies have "" in their title, it shoudl be removed, the movies sorted accordingly.

- One should be able to grab the cover/poster from IMDB. That would be easier, than amazon, especially, when no cover can be found at all on amazon. Smiley

Thats about it for now.

And another one... Smiley

- Sort by rating is most important. Enable the row for rating in the main window.

- Why is there a row in front of the row for the film number? It is just using space.

Do you mean columns instead of rows, right?  Wink
The column in front of the film number is used to flag loaned films.

A couple more fixed on SVN.

I will ask you in the future to post on this board only the wishes and to report the bugs by openning a ticket on the bug tracker because is much more easier for us. Thank you very much. Wink

I will. Thanks for fixing those bugs. Smiley (Yes, I meant collumns, not rows.)

I do not agree. The problem is not trivial. For example, in English there is one more article -- "a", which should be treated similar to "the" in the beginning of title. But English is not the only language with articles. What about French, Spanish, Italian, ...? I am not sure that moving "A" from the beginning of title to the end is safe for all languages on the Earth. At least, it requires adding language tag to title, and perform this transformation only if title is in English language.

I think leaving title "as it is" is the simplest and safest method for now. Automatic transformations should be carefully designed first. (Note, that it always possible to move articles to the end manually.)
