How about displaying the actual rating next to the stars/meter, in numbers? The stars is great, but numbers would be good as well.

I also find this limitation somewhat irritating. I have found the IMDB ratings to match my taste pretty well, and I thus give quite a bit of attention to them.

With the mode of display currently implemented, a 6.8 or 6.9 rating is being reduced to a 6-star rating, which is rather misleading.

Yes for some reason it's only integer?

The stars should at least reflect the reality, but a numeric value addition to that would be the best.

this seems to be related to this...

Column('rating', Smallinteger(2)), and because of that self.rating = gutils.digits_only(self.rating, 10)

I don't see a reason it not being a string even...? Some ratings go to 100 and smallint(2) is too small anyway

I'm agree with this suggestion. It would be nice to see decimals at well.
