first. this is a very very useful tool. thanks for this so far.
so that is what i'm thinking about:

well, there is this point media types ( i use the german version, don't know if its translated right) where you can chose several types such as DVD, SVCD etc.
i would like to use some codec standards, like DivX, XviD, H.264, Nero etc. so, i think there are more and more standalone dvd players out there, which play that codecs not just only mpeg-2 (DVD). and a lot of people may use a media pc with different file formats to watch their films.
so i think this would be helpful?

sorry for my english.

Maybe creating new "codec" filed would be a better solution?

hallo POX,

well, how this option should be named is a good question. i think, "codec" is a good solution at the moment.
perhaps, it's a good idea to offer another dropdown menu, if you chose "codec". what i mean is, if a select "codec" it will apear dropdown, let's call it "format" where i can select the right "format", such as XviD, h.264, x.264 etc.
it should be located between media types and condition, i think.
the opportunity to enter the numbers of cds, is already there. important if i think at SVCD for example. well done!

good night.

hello,
to start of, great program and great effort and I for one truly appreciate your work.
Now to my suggestion, you could put a codec sub-section in the existing "Technical Info" section. Since the information about the video codec is (to me at least) just as important as the Information about the audio codec (and most importantly the number of channels 2.0ch-7.1ch).
Also I'd personally prefer another "drop-down-list" (like the list for lector, dub + sub) in the Language Window, where you could choose the channels for a dub/lec or the type of subtitle (srt, ssa, ass, etc) for the sub option (but that would be the cherry on the cakes icing...).
To clear things up a little example:

Technical info
color: color
DVD Region: N/A
DVD Layer: N/A
-------------------------------
Media: CD            Discs: 2
Condition: Good
-------------------------------
Video(codec): mpeg2, Xvid, dvix, h.264...
Audio(codec): Ac3, ogg, mp3, aac...

Languages
english            dubbing               5.1ch
english            subtitles              ass

Well, just my two cents. I just hope you find the time and motivation to continue working on your program, again thx a lot for your work so far.

media types list is now (SVN version) editable by user (just like tag list), "LaserDisc" is on that list by default
