Multi user option?

Is it possible to share and modify the database on more than one computer in a (home) network. It would be quite handy to be able to manage the database on various computers around the house, but I can't find an option for doing that.

Hey -
I suspect that if you use MySQL - you could probably do that - In your my.conf file (or use mysql administrator) you can change the database designation from localhost (which is default) to an ip address (perhaps the IP of your DB server)
then you install griffith - and in the db section - instead of pointing to localhost - point it to the IP address of the server you setup -
as for images - that is where it is going to get tricky - and I do not have a solution for you there.
Please note - I have not tried this - so let us know if it works.
If you are using windows machines - I dunno if ODBC works with Griffith, that is something that you will have to play with and try.
Let us know.

Hey AlexKeel
Just a revisit to this topic - My Database is located on a Kubuntu Linux machine (Mysql) as I stated I had to set the Bind-Address to the IP of my system.
I downloaded the windows version of Griffith, and installed it - setup the database to mysql
host 192.168.0.197 port 3306
username, password and dbname
and it works just fine.
The only problem that I am having now - is getting my images to show -
I have a shared drive on the Linux machine - and I have created a linked Directory that shows all the images.
Now I just have to find the conf file on the windows side, so that I can point the images directory to the shared symbolic directory.
Hope this helps you

Hi Kilroy,
thanks for your suggestions. I'll give that a try.
For the moment I just copy the database and poster directory onto a flash drive and then onto another computer. It is not the handiest solution, but for now that works. I'll keep you posted on my progress and hope that there will be an upgrade at some stage that will make this easy to set up.
Thanks again,
Alex

What is the trick to getting griffith to see and use mysql. mysql is running on my linux box (ps auxwww |grep mysql), but when I go to the preferences in griffith and try to set it to mysql, it cannot find mysql, and I do not seem to get any log messages to /var/log/mysql*
Do I have to do some mysql admin magic? I have threatened to learn mysql, but just have not done it.
