Killroy and Parti02:
Just to let you know,

I (a real newbie) have installed Griffith with the 0.9 database on Mysql and tried to run the webclient.
The webclient gave me an error that my database was not supported.

After that, I've installed the complete 10.0 beta2 and the webclient does not complain anymore.
No errors yet.

greetings from Holland,
Henny

Some ideas about the webinterface! What are you thinking about? It is possible? Advantage and disadvantage?

1. Using sqlite instead of mysql. Drop one more dependency.
The Webclient will running only with apache and php. This is available on
every low cost virtual host. Is it possible to save the posters inside a sqlite database?
Griffith supports sqlite too, so it could be compatible.

2. Use the xml scrapper from xbmc instead of python wrapper from griffith.
Is it possible to use the xml scrapper with php.
Reason: Drop one more dependency. Python.
I could imagine, only the way how to save the data inside the database is
important for the compatiblity to griffith.

A lot of mediacenters are using sqlite, so, in a far far future, it could be possible
to port the database to a mediacenter.

I would rather you keep the Mysql as an option.
I use Mysql, because of it's power.
Thanks

Hey just got round to installing the new client - using the dev version of the new griffith - works great  had a little problem with permissions - had to set everything to 777. I know that is not good, but now I can reverse the settings to get them in the right spot. Images came through perfectly. in the 1.0 version I had to create a symbolic link to my images directory.  I did not need to do that this time.

Looks great Parti. Thank you

Thats why i moved all settings into ./settings directory. Only the directory "settings" needs 777, all other files must run readable only, i think.
I don't know whats better chown -R www-data:www-data settings/ or chmod 777.

The thought is good, but in my opinion the best option would be to support both sqlite and mysql. But I think this is more important in the long run, not right now. MySQL is very widely used, and not a problematic dependency for advanced users. I don't think the time is right to aim for "newbie" users.

Hello Community,

I just want to know if there is still ongoing progress in this part? I downloaded your WebClient and it is really good.
I just started to extend it a bit, like adding option for showing volumes or showing all movies and stuff like this.
If there would be a need, I would offer my help to bring the project further

Ciao SimFire
