Collections of movies are now mostly files, NOT plastic discs. I need the main gui of griffith to have a category on file type. IE., mkv, avi xvid, mp4, mpg, iso (dvd) etc.
I still have tons of actual dvd's but when browsing titles in griffith, without a file type tab I have to manually edit the title itself to differentiate between discs and actual files so that I know how to play the movie.
Suggestion:
Add "Hard Drive" to the 'Medium' dropdown list and MOST IMPORTANTLY, make a "File Type" (or simply "Container") tab for the main window. PLEASE ALREADY
"Video Codec" buried in the edit menu serves almost no purpose whatsoever as 'dvix', 'xvid', 'mkv' etc., are actually containers and not codecs themselves. You could actually REPLACE the very inadequate 'Video Codec' altogether with a more appropriate "file type" or "container" that you can edit or add to. IE., flv's are not on your list and nor is avi nor iso..............

Both the Medium/Media and the Video Codec dropdown list values are user maintained.  Tools  | Preferences |  Movie Details tab.   I added "Digital File"  to the Media list which displays in the Medium tab on the main screen.
